In Dallas, as with many other large cities in Texas (for Dallas is indeed one of the largest cities in the world), you have no shortage of options for auto insurance. There are naturally the “big boys,” the giants of the industry: Allstate, State Farm, and Geico are just a few of these massive companies. But there are also some midrange, slightly more localized insurance providers that offer a more personal touch in some cases.
Al Boenker Insurance is a pretty big name in Dallas, and you can see his ads on everything from stadium signs to television commercials. He serves the Dallas area with dependability and respectability and has done so for years. Can he ever compete with Progressive and its millions of dollars in advertising? No, but who says he wants to? Either way Al Boenker Insurance has carved out a very enviable niche in the Dallas auto insurance market.
PLS Insurance Agency of Texas is another heavy hitter in Texas and especially Dallas. Since it doesn’t have to pay the massive overhead of a giant international corporation, the company can afford to give out pretty competitive rates with very fast approval. It is said that PLS is one of the fastest claim settlers in the state. Remember, too that these companies are often more familiar with Texas and all of its legal quirks. This isn’t to say that a huge company is ignorant by any means; on the contrary, since your claims adjusters will likely be in Texas anyway, the point is moot. But a company based in Texas does have more allegiance to the Lone Star State in most cases and they can be better at relating to fellow Texans.
But if you do decide to eschew one of the giant, worldwide companies like State Farm, make sure that the company you do choose is reputable and has a history of good business practice. Though an enormous faceless corporation has plenty of downsides worth criticizing, at least you know that they’re a legit brand. If you start looking at companies that don’t have websites and seem to somewhat “shady,” by all means pass them up. Do research on your insurance provider no matter who you choose, and never sign anything until you’re absolutely positive that you’re receiving everything you want and none of what you don’t want. Whether you’re in Dallas, Nashville, London, Paris, or Minsk, there are good guys out there and there are bad guys out there. At the risk of using a terrible automobile pun, try to “steer clear” of untrustworthy insurance companies.
